Based on the failed TV series, Firefly. You can buy the complete series on the DVD format. All of the characters from the series are back though one role was greatly reduced to merely a cameo but well-done. Firefly was a great Sci-Fi/Western show, it wasn't given a chance. This movie was made on a budget of $40 million. That's not really a big budget for a Sci-Fi movie. After seeing this movie, the special effects team obviously worked their asses off on this movie giving the impression that it was made on a bigger budget. There's some good fighting scenes, though some could had been better done but they were nice.

I did feel a little disappointed by the movie; that's because you cannot cramp everything into a couple hours. In fact, the person who went with me felt somehow lost due to the amount of information that was provided. For the Firefly fans, I'm sure all of you will be able to follow the storyline without a hitch since it has the same backstory as Firefly did. We do get a peek at the reavers often mentioned on the show, but not enough. Hopefully, this movie will set up a new TV show instead of a sequel because of the storyline.

I would recommend this to any Firefly fans who want more, though I must warn you that a couple of Firefly regulars didn't make it through. Not going to name names; I don't want to spoil the movie for you. For these who never saw the television show, I would recommend checking Firefly out on the DVD before seeing Serenity, you'll be doing yourself a favour. Even if you didn't see Firefly, you may still end up enjoying the movie.
