May I recommend Brian Selznick's "Wonderstruck"? It's a book your son may enjoy reading.

The book, "d/Deaf and d/Dumb" is more of a research novel, I'm not sure if your son would appreciate a book like this because it's not really a novel, it's just more of an autobiography combined with theories and research. Regardless, it's an interesting read.

This really makes me happy to see that sensible people like yourself Banjo for bringing interesting things about our culture to the rest of us. There are a lot of things we're proud of and also there's a lot of things we haven't been compelled to know due to hardship and inequality in our culture.
