Pottermania is still alive and kicking in a big way.

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' is a big hit. It has sold 8.3 million copies in the U.S.A. within the first 24 hours. Yes, you read that right. 8,300,000 copies of the latest installment in the novel series of Harry Potter were sold in the first 24 hours in the U.S.A. alone! There's still no word on how many copies were sold in Canada and the United Kingdom and other countries. I imagine it's a big number too as well, but not as big as it is in the U.S.A. due to the smaller population.

That means the previous record holder; 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' was beaten. The sixth installment sold 6.9 million within the first 24 hours in the U.S.A. back in July of 2005.

We have come a long way and now we are here at the end of a long-celebrated obsession. Though we still have two more movies on the way. To me, I see it as a bonus.

Harry Potter will be remembered for decades and possibly centuries to come. The novels are already classics.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (International)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (USA)

224 pages, 152 minutes.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

251 pages, 161 minutes

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

317 pages, 142 minutes.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

636 pages, 157 minutes.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

766 pages, 138 minutes.

All the page numbers mentioned above are in reference to the Bloomsbury edition. 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' is the longest installment in the novel series yet it's the shortest movie of all 5 movies produced so far.

Something's not right.

While I think most of the movies shouldn't be any longer than two hours, but there are exceptions. For instance, 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, James Cameron's 'Titanic', Harry Potter movies and more. For the 'Harry Potter' movies, the longer, the better.

However, many movies shouldn't be longer than two hours like I said. That goes for 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies. The new one has a running time of 168 minutes! That's too long especially for a movie about pirates.

What I don't understand is, why is the new Harry Potter movie the shortest of all considering the fact that the novel it's based on is the longest of all? It's pretty obvious they had to make a lot of heavy cuts but one do have to wonder how heavy the cuts were if it's this short. I remember reading an article; it was an interview with the director, David Yates. He said he has filmed at least three hours worth of footage. Still, I think 138 minutes is too short. Keep in mind that the running time more than likely include the end credits, which is probably around ten minutes, long or more so it is really less than 130 minutes if I turn out to be right.

What a lot of people may not know is that all of the Harry Potter movies except 'Prisoner of Azkaban', there are a large amount of footage that was left on the cutting floor and I mean a large amount. This is where my theory comes in, I believe there are plans after 7th movie is produced and released to re-release all of the movies with extended running time. What I'm saying is it's likely that there's at least forty minutes worth of footage to be included in a future edition of 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'.

The first movie, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' has plenty of deleted footage that wasn't featured on the DVD. The DVD had around 25 minutes worth of deleted scenes. There are some that I know that weren't included on the DVD; at least one scene involved the character, Peeves. There were also more footage involving Voldemort, they didn't include because it was found to be too frightening for young children. I imagine they will go ahead and add it in a future edition.

Well, all I can say is that I hope Warner Bros. will surprise us with extended editions of all of the movies because that would be like Christmas all over again.

I stumbled upon a website the other day, it has a bunch of sketches and drawings. Largely based on the Harry Potter novels along with some brewed up storyline ideas to go with it. One of my favourites from the site is one of sky being used as a battlefield for the wizards. Click here to view it.

There’s also another one that I’m a fan of. Art Dungeon, it has a large amount of sketches. Greatly drawn, I’ll say. There’s tons of Harry Potter fanarts out there on the Internet.

I’ve seen some pretty bad ones though, but I’ve seen a lot of good ones. I also have one on my blog, you can find it in the photos section. It’s a sketch of Severus Snape. I also posted one of Mad-Eye Moody a while ago; it was a sketch of the Mad-Eye Moody we all saw in the movie. I enjoy looking at the pictures, and I’ve drawn quite a few. Maybe I should draw more and post them.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

Emma Watson is rumoured to play the role of the Pink Ranger in an upcoming Power Rangers TV series? Is IMDB.com really that dense?

That appears to be the case. It was a good laugh though but there's no way an agent would screw Emma Watson over like that especially when she's a part of an enormous franchise like the Harry Potter movies.

Emma Watson the Pink Ranger... it's not going to happen. IMDB need to stop accepting submissions like free candies. They have to check these sources out before putting it on their website. They often end up looking like fools.

IMDB used to be reliable but it isn't anymore. Emma Watson's IMDB page can be viewed by clicking here. I just can't believe they actually posted this!

Today, I came across a magazine scan, it came from a magazine that focuses on dolls or something like that. Anyway, they had some pictures of the new dolls based on the characters from the Harry Potter movies. I can't say that I think they look good.

Especially Ron Weasley. You should see what they did to his hair. They gave him the 'Rachel' hairdo! Remember how her hairdo got so much media attention a decade ago? If you're not sure who I'm talking about, 'Rachel Green' was the character portrayed by Jennifer Aniston on the TV show, Friends. Just click here to view it. I couldn't believe that they actually published these pictures of the poorly made dolls in the magazine. It's also a good laugh, it's definitely worth a look. Hat tip to Veritaserum for posting the magazine scans.
